Tenth Planet was the first French written press magazine dedicated to derivative products, published from 1999 to 2008 by Histoire & Collections editions. Over 9 years, 51 issues and 11 special editions were published, covering the universe of licensed objects from science fiction, TV series, films, video games and animation.
The magazine was directed by Erwan Le Vexier (editor-in-chief) and Jean-Marc Deschamps, and was distinguished by the quality of its documented reports on derivative products from cult franchises. Tenth Planet was at the origin of many terms that became common, notably "Kidulte" (appeared in the editorial of issue #6 in August 2000) and "proder" (contraction of derivative product).
A precursor in its field, the magazine also offered videos specially filmed presenting the events of the derivative products planet to complement the articles in the paper magazine. A true bible for a specialist audience, Tenth Planet became cult and old issues gained value over time, with issue 1 becoming a collector's item.
