LEGO Model Team

Launched in 1986, the LEGO Model Team range represented a revolutionary approach for its time: offering large-scale vehicle models with an unprecedented level of detail and realism. This series stood out for the integration of mechanical functionalities such as functional steering, marking a significant evolution in the LEGO universe.

With only 16 references produced between 1986 and 1999, Model Team prioritized quality over quantity. The sets, identifiable by their numbering 55xx (with the notable exception of the Ferrari Formula 1 Racing Car 2556), covered a wide spectrum of vehicles: formula 1s, trucks, dragsters, boats and even helicopters. The 5590 Whirl N' Wheel Super Truck from 1990 held the record for the largest LEGO set of the time with its 1064 pieces.

This range, precursor to the Creator series, remains highly sought after by collectors today, particularly for its characteristic chromed pieces and its innovative technical approach that laid the foundations for future LEGO ranges intended for experienced builders.
