In 1952, Lucien Adès obtained a license to publish records telling Disney stories in France and created his production company, Adès/Petit Ménestrel records in 1953. Peter Pan constitutes, along with Cinderella, one of the very first Adès productions with a set of 4 unbreakable 17 cm 78 rpm records released in late 1953 under the Petit Ménestrel Albums label, with a separate illustrated book of 18 pages. This innovation of the book-record revolutionized the approach to Disney stories. These are phonographic adaptations, more or less condensed depending on the length of the record, centered on a narration enhanced with dialogues, sound effects and songs from the film. This type of offer was not proposed in the United States until several years later and was a phenomenal success. Editorial evolution continues with the creation in 1992 of the Disney Hachette company responsible for managing all publications inspired by Disney films or characters in Europe. This collaboration continues and diversifies, offering varied formats: large format albums, educational collections, book-CDs and collector's items. Production extends from timeless classics to adaptations of the most recent films, covering more than five decades of Disney creations.
